The Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my Window... it is dark and a little rainy.

I am thinking...going to bed soon.

From the learning rooms...i am learning to wait.

I am thankful for...a fun day out today shopping with my daughter and granddaughter.

From the kitchen...nothing is happening.

I am wearing...a denim dress with a black turtleneck and my fuzzy pink slippers.

I am reading...Moby Dick

I am hoping....the gutters get put on my house tomorrow, and maybe the steps could be finished too!

I am creating...a sort-of new me.

I am hearing...soft music coming from my iPad.

Around the house...is quietness.

One of my favorite things...a cool, rainy day ~ like today!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...finding a quilter to quilt the quilt, learning how to use the sock-knitter i bought a while ago.

This verse has been very meaningful to me of late:
These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace.  In
the world you will have tribulation but take courage.  I have overcome
       the world.  John 16:33

And a picture:
A doe and twin fawns in the backyard.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my Window... it is sunny, beautiful and a little bit chilly.

I am thinking...of too many things to count!

From the learning rooms...i am learning to trust.

I am thankful for...the blessing of family and friends

From the kitchen...i am planning on drying basil and mint today

I am wearing...a long denim skirt and a plaid long-sleeved shirt with my fuzzy pink slippers.  :-)

I am reading...Disciplines of a Beautiful Woman by Anne Ortlund

I am hoping....to lay out my daughters wedding quilt and start putting the squares together

I am creating...a place of quiet for me.

I am hearing...granddaughter working on cleaning her room.

Around the house...is quietness.

One of my favorite things...hearing the sound of boats in Puget Sound blowing their fog horns.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...working on the quilt, drying herbs, reading

This verse has been very meaningful to me of late:
He said, " O Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like You in
heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and showing
lovingkindness to Your servants who walk before You with all their
      heart.   I Kings 8:23

And a picture:
a pile of quilt blocks waiting to be assembled into my daughter's wedding quilt.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my Window... is a beautiful late summer/early fall day.

I am thinking...of all that's left to be done before i can move in!

From the learning rooms... oh boy!  i am learning lots these days!

I am thankful for...the presence of the Lord all around me.

From the kitchen...this morning i made English Toffee Bars in honor of Tasha Tudor's birthday.

I am wearing...a long black and green jumper with a white blouse.

I am reading...The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency

I am hoping....to get 5 quilt blocks finished today.

I am creating...a new life.

I am hearing...granddaughter singing in her bedroom.

Around the house...is busy-ness.

One of my favorite things...a quiet house and time to myself, both of which i enjoyed yesterday and last night.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...working on the quilt, getting things done so i can move in.

In my reading this morning, these verses stood out to me~
Surely i have composed and quieted my soul.  Like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me.
             Psalms 131:2

The place is jumping...

With activity.  The new house was moved in on Monday.  We were surprised to get a call that morning that it was on its way.  You see, there had been a little bit of a kerflaffle about the transportation.  When we ordered the house there were some modifications/upgrades that we could make one of which we chose involved having the walls sheet rocked instead of the standard wallboard/paneling.  That particular package upgrade included 9' ceilings instead of 8'.  Apparently the factory and their transport company did not do their homework.  We had been told earlier that the bouse would be here the Wednesday before it actually arrived, but according to the regulations the house was too tall to be trucked in via the usual routes.  There was all kinds of special permits involved and lots more money. In fact, the house was coming from a factory in Oregon and we live in northwestern Washington and every county the house passed through had to issue a separate permit.  We did not have to pay any extra as we bought the house delivered and set up but someone had to eat $2300.00 extra in transportation charges.  (I'm thinking we may have the only one with 9' ceilings!).

New House Preparations:

It's time i wrote an update about the goings-on around here relative to our new house.  We had picked out a manufactured home a few weeks ago.  It is ready to be delivered but there is much to be done around here before that can happen.  Here is a picture showing a "before" picture of the area that our home will sit on ~
On the right side of the picture is the west side of my daughter's attached garage and straight ahead is a storage shed.
Here you can see some major differences.  That is the west side of the attached garage and the area where the house will sit.  There have been more than 12 trees, some of them large, taken out and the land partially leveled.
It's amazing how a big tree can be taken down in this way.  They didn't use chain saws hardly at all.
Big equipment working around the backyard putting in the septic drainfields.
The truck that brought the septic tanks.
The septic tanks in place.
And the drainfields partially covered.
So, here it is so far.  We have a ways to go yet, but progress is being made!
